That was life for the lumberjacks, who worked in the forest in the winter. To get the invigorating beer to the right temperature for drinking they quickly took their working tools, also known in the vernacular as „Stache“, placed them in the fire until the tops of them were red hot and then dipped them into the beer: STACHEBIER!
The pleasant side effect was a delicate caramel flavour, when the sudden heat of the red-hot iron merged with the malt in the beer and frizzed the foam to a treacly edge.We have revived this lovely tradition and make available our Stachebier equipment for you (coal pans with the corresponding iron rods).
