The Zwickl Coin

In order for a beer to be “Zwickled”, i.e. for a beer sample to be taken, the Zwickl tap was supposedly turned on with a 2 coin in the past. Even today, a 2-euro piece is sometimes called a “Zwickl”.

Water, Hops and Malt

Water, hops and malt from the best growing regions in Bavaria, that’s all we need – and that’s all we use to brew our beers according to the Bavarian Purity Law of 1516.

The Zwickl Tap

A Zwickl or “Kellerbier” originally referred to the unfiltered sample of a beer. Therefore, in addition to the classic pale Zwickl, there may be Zwickl beers of other beer types. To obtain this beer sample, it is tapped directly from the storage tank using the Zwickl tap.

The Historical Siphon Bottle

Three times a year, our Zwickl alley sale takes place in Hofgasse and on these three dates, beer lovers from near and far can watch our brewers tap the fresh Zwickl beer directly from the storage tank into the historic two-liter bottles.

Zwickl alkoholfrei

This new creation by our brewmaster Matthias Sailer is Hofbräuhaus Traunstein’s youngest beer variety and has already made many friends since its premiere in summer 2020.

By using special yeasts, the beer is completely fermented.

This preserves the full flavour, but reduces the alcohol content to less than 0.5%. This makes Zwickl non-alcoholic the perfect summer refreshment for all those who love light enjoyment.

Yeasty-fruity aroma and floral hop flavour. An unfiltered natural product with a light yellow colour and clear cellar cloudiness straight from the storage tank.

Alcohol content < 0.5 %
