Weißbier Dunkel
This Bavarian beer is reminiscent of the first beer brewed at the Hofbräuhaus Traunstein on behalf of the Elector at the beginning of the 17th century. Back then, the relatively hard brewing water still produced the typical dark colour; today it is the result of our special caramel malt, which an old family malting house in Middle Franconia has been producing especially just for us for generations.
As with our classic wheat beer, our unique yeast also gives this dark variant its special taste.
Pleasant honey and harmonious fruit notes make this traditional wheat beer speciality with its craft beer character so special that it is hardly ever brewed outside of Bavaria.
Hazelnut brown with fine yeast. A distinctly deep, spicy-smoky flavour from the special dark malt, with a faint hint of fruit. Brewed according to our special old Bavarian process.
Original wort content 12.3 °
Alcohol content 5.2 %
Back to the overviewNative wildflowers
Our Bavarian alpine flora with arnica, yarrow and many other wild flowers is just as much a regional uniqueness as the beer variety Weißbier dunkel – they are both almost exclusively native to the old Bavarian region. The preciousness of this special variety is illustrated by the edelweiss, which is known worldwide for its regional rarity in the Bavarian Alps.
Wheat and Dark Malt
The interplay of wheat, caramel malt and dark barley malt provides the strong amber color, the dark beer foam and the unique taste: in our Weißbier dunkel, the strong fruity aroma of our wheat beer meets the soft honey, blossom and caramel notes of the “Dunkel”.
