Beer tradition from Hofbräuhaus Traunstein – beer and wooden barrels are inseparable in the minds of the people. Hofbräuhaus Traunstein once again lives up to its philosophy and does not let this old tradition die out. The ‘Helle Export’ in genuine oak wood barrels is celebrated as the pinnacle of Bavarian beer and pub culture.
Part of this are the strong ‘Ganterbock’, the glistening ‘Zapfzeug’ from brass, the mighty wooden mallet, leather bindings and of course the proper ceremony: that muffled sound when the mallet opens up the barrel and the cry „Ozapft is!“ resounds. For hundreds of years the golden beer has bubbled in tankards and glasses. “Master of ceremonies” is, first and foremost, the innkeeper or he is selected from the circle of guests. The birthday boy, the most beautiful lady of the round: simply, who has enough grit!
There is lots of options for food thanks to the wooden, which provides many opportunities to increase turnover- combined with a ‘Reindlbraten’ or ‘Spanferkel’, guests get to experience culinary delights. In the cosy-trusted parlour, or in the shaded beer garden guests meet up in small or in large groups.
And guests get to take their barrel home with them. There is partying, liveliness, drinking and laughing!
